I remember that I did so similar as a boy / young man. But using a water hose and water. Keep in mind that water cannot be compressed as easily as a gas (air). So the effect is "different".

I assume that it is difficult to seal the beginning airtight. Tie tightly, but still have air passing through on the other side.
